Parliamentary Briefing
Stop The Hate UK is championing this briefing because it addresses a serious gap in accountability at the point where international expertise meets public policy. Reforming UN Special Procedures is a parliamentary briefing designed to ask a straightforward but important question: if the UK expects transparency, independence and evidentiary rigour from experts at home, why should it settle for less from United Nations mandate-holders whose reports influence Parliament, diplomacy, the media and the courts.
The briefing matters because these reports do not sit on the margins of debate. They shape how issues are framed, how decisions are made and how public opinion is formed. That makes their reliability, disclosure practices and professional standards a matter of genuine public interest, not an internal UN technicality.
Stop The Hate UK is championing the issue because it is about more than one report or one controversy. It is about institutional integrity, democratic resilience and the need to protect policymaking from bias, weak methodology and undue influence. In other words, this is about making sure that human rights remain credible by ensuring that the institutions speaking in their name are properly accountable.
The campaign also reflects a broader principle that should matter to anyone concerned with good governance: standards should not disappear when the subject moves from domestic institutions to international ones. If public confidence depends on transparency and scrutiny at home, those same standards should apply when global bodies are given authority over debates that affect British public life.
Who We Are
Stop The Hate is a grassroots non-profit organisation founded in response to the repeated failures of the Metropolitan Police to address anti-Semitic incidents at Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (PSC) marches. Today, we are the largest Jewish-led direct action campaign group, with teams in London, Leeds, and Brighton, united in our mission to stand against hate and advocate for Israel. Our coalition brings together individuals from all backgrounds and faiths who are united against terror by the shared values of love, freedom, and democracy.
Why counter-protesting matters
By being present at key events, we ensure that media coverage includes our voices and doesn't solely focus on pro-Palestinian activism. We’ve been featured on major platforms such as the BBC, ITV, Sky News, The Times, Daily Mail, and The Telegraph.
We engage with the public, offering a perspective that counters the narrative of universal opposition to Israel. Our presence presents a balanced view alongside pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
Our firm response to provocative protests in Jewish neighbourhoods has contributed to a more restrictive approach by the police in handling anti-Semitic demonstrations that target these areas.
By consistently showing a visible, Jewish, pro-Israel presence, we empower Jews to stand proudly for our community and against hate. We reject the notion that Jews should hide their identities or their Zionism and remain steadfast in showing that Jews can stand tall as proud, openly Jewish and visibly Zionist.
